It was past midnight,
Dinner done, all asleep.
I woke up to a horrid sight,
To clamor and my parents’ weep.
I am only four,
Not much to understand.
We all cried some more,
For mercy we joined our hands.
A dozen men surrounded,
Insanely laughed and shouted.
Ma and Pa were beheaded,
Shrieked, as I was astounded.
Dragged outside into the cold,
I heard many distant bombs.
City shattered, nothing to behold,
These were men in satanic uniforms.
Shook me to instill fear,
As I cried bitterly, helplessly.
There’s nothing I could hear,
My mind went numb callously.
I wished to be killed,
Not be left behind.
They were so skilled,
They wouldn’t be kind.
I was thrown into some dingy cell,
Lying within walls with no roof.
Each day I rise but cannot tell,
Which day would mark my last move.
Very dark and intense. Well written!!
